Welcome to the August 2008 Poetry of the Month page.

Your bones

Once upon a time
I loved your bones
The marrow lining them,
defining your appeal
Now, the definition is gone

One upon a time
silence was as painless as laughter
Now it grows and glows between us
Now, all things that were precious
are gone

So I've taken your bones
and the softness of your voice
to some out of the way place
So out of the way
that not even the Gods will find them

And they'll stay there
like an Autumn leaf
or a fallen star.
